Presentation work on website

I started to create my exhibition page on my portfolio website, I use Square-space for my website, so it was a case of getting onto Squarespace and looking at some templates that would work for an exhibition. They didn’t have a specific template of an exhibition, so I used sections of a gallery template, a few blank sections for text, and one for a portfolio. I started by writing out an introduction, something to sum up what this page was about.

I wanted to break the page down into sections to describe my process of working on the book, I started with a gallery section of some of the page spreads from the book, at present I have just added 3 that I have completed, but there will be 6 images once it’s finished, I will pick out the front cover to start the gallery off, then 5 different pages throughout the book.

Next I added in a section for Character development, again I wrote a small paragraph to explain my process, then added 3 picture of some rough sketches and gradual development. Again these pictures may change, once I have looked at the whole page when it’s completed, but these give the idea.

Then I created the section tools and materials, a short paragraph showing my equipment and media that I use, and also an image to show this too.

I have put this picture in for now, but I want to take a picture of all my paints, surface pattern designs, and digital equipment to show what I use.

I created a section for colour, I thought this was important as this was quite a high priority of the look of the book, the tired muted colours of the damaged garden, compared to the bright vibrant and colourful second half of the book, the limited colour palette for the characters and the spreads.

I added an image of my colour tests, for the book, how I label all the colours, and keep swatches for each character so I know what colours I used and what mixes (Especially for skin tones).

Then we have visual language and style, again a paragraph explaining my process, then there will be 6-8 images of the finished pages, ones that really showcase the book, ones which have good compositions.

Lastly I have written a closing paragraph, to thank viewers for stopping by, and what my plans are for the future.

I will be adding in the new images next, then once I have completed the book spreads I will add my favourites into the start and end of the exhibition page. In the meantime time I will think if I want or need to add anything else into the showcase, I will complete a little research and see if I can find some inspiration for exhibition pages online.

I have now completed the book and the artwork and added the text, so I have updated my presentation on my website for the exhibition page.

I have added in a few selections of the finished book to the top section, I have added 6 images for this piece.

The next section was the character development, where I added a lot more pictures about my process but condensed them into 3 images.

The tools and materials section I updated the image to showcase all my paints, brushes and surface pattern designs on material. I thought this was a better picture to use.

I didn’t change anything on the colour section, and kept my image of my colour tests as is.

The last section, again I added in more finished pieces from the book, I added 8 images in this section, which included the mock up of the book as well.

I am really happy with the page on my website, I think it really shows my whole process and work from this last unit, as well as the culmination of all my learning and work from the whole degree unit and the amount of time I have spent on it all, developing my characters and honing my style and making processes easier and workable.
