Final Improvements

After my final- project 10 – for the unit 3.3 major project, there was still a few things I wanted to improve on, plus some suggestions from my tutor. The main thing was the lack of consistency with the character Rory, he did look different in each spread he was in, so I wanted to make sure he looked the same on each page. I went back to drawing him from scratch, but this time completed all the different poses on one page, plus painted him at the same time, and cleaned him up in Procreate all at the same time. I think this process helped immensely, this is where it went wrong to begin with, as I worked on each page individually, so the characters were drawn, painted and cleaned up at different times, making consistency harder.

once I had completed the New Rory’s I added these into the spreads, another improvement was to add a lot more small details, patterns on clothes, grass tufts, striations on leaves, just the small little touches that add more texture and interest for the child.

My tutor suggested completing a digital booklet of the book, which I was intending to do previously in the unit, but I intend to enter the book into a competition soon after assessment, so I didn’t want to commit to a certain size book, when it could change. But for the assessment I thought it would be beneficial for the process to complete a digital copy, so the flow and colours and story can be seen clearly for grading.
