Exercise 3:-

The book that I find most engaging and what I have recently bought, is Beatrice Alemagna’s The Marvellous Fluffy, Squishy, Itty, Bitty.

Alemagna B (2014) The Marvellous, Fluffy, Squishy, Itty, Bitty. 2015 Thames and Hudson London.

I love this book because of the cute story, but mainly because of the Illustrations. I love the little character of Edith, the way she is drawn and the colours used.

I also love the texture and details in the illustrations, the media that is used and the background art work.

The book is in hard back and the front cover is Illustrated in what looks like a mixture of mediums, mainly coloured pencil, it has a lovely texture to it, The name is just so cute and endearing to start, and has a bright luminous pink inner page, which immediately sparks your interest.

I find the book intriguing and and just looking at it makes me smile. It feels Modern yet with an old fashioned twist, because of the texture of the pencils, the front cover feels tactile. The pages are made up of full page spreads and little cameos, which I really love, (It reminds me of Beatrix potters work) You can see the old style of traditional art work, with no digital work which is something I like, (even if digital work has been used, you can’t feel it in the Illustrations) Alemagna’s work is very influential at present.

I like the idea of using traditional art work, but I like digital work that looks like traditional work, I think working with the two and melding them together is something I would like to work towards.

Exercise 4

I have around 12 hours per week I can work on this unit

I am most productive most of the day

I have managed my time well over the course of the other two units, I feel I am used to learning in this way now.

I hoping to get part one complete by the end of January (as we have Christmas in between)

Exercise 5

I have just signed up to the Adobe suite of Apps to get In Design, but I have just found out that my laptop is not up to date enough to use the App, so I have got to find how I can move forward with this.

I have all the paint and paper I would need

I have pens and pencils and all stationary equipment

I have an Apple pencil and the use of an Ipad and Procreate, to advance my digital skills

I have a printer and scanner to get art work into my computer.

I’m going to work in my Studio, Home office space.

Exercise 6

I will look up the groups available with my fellow students

Exercise 7

My Tutor has already been in touch, and has given me some guidance on what to do next.
